LET’S START KNITTING

15 Free Easy Crochet Vest Patterns for Stylish Crafters

Fall marks the time for cozy projects. But it’s still a tad bit warm for a full-blown sweater. What do we do? We make stylish crochet vests, of course! Vests are excellent projects for colder months as they are easier and faster to stitch up compared to a sweater or cardigan.

Why should you crochet your own vest?

Making your own crochet vest will give you full control on how your project will look. You can use all the colors you want and make sure that your vest fits your body the way you want it to.

Materials for Crochet Vest Patterns

All you need to make your new favorite vest are the basic crochet materials. So let’s go over them!

  • Crochet hooks – Make sure to have plenty of crochet hooks on hand! You can find the hook sizes you need listed in the ‘materials’ section of each crochet pattern in this round-up!
Pro tip: Wood and plastic hooks are great for slippery yarns and metal hooks are perfect for “sticky” yarns like acrylic!
  • Yarn – Make sure to check the pattern to see what yarn weight to use. Each pattern should list a recommended brand or weight in the “suggested yarn” section of the crochet pattern you’re following! We always recommend that you match the fiber type you’re using with the one used to make the pattern!
  • Scissors – A pair of scissors is another important tool that you will use for all of your crochet projects. You’ll need them to cut the yarn and trim any leftover yarn tails when you’re done!
  • Stitch markers – You might need stitch markers to keep track of where you are if you’re following a stitch pattern. We recommend “removable” or “locking” style stitch markers for crochet projects. If you don’t have stitch markers, you can use a strand of scrap yarn—preferably in a different color so it’s easy to see.
  • Yarn/darning needle – You will need a yarn needle or darning needle to sew in the loose ends.
