How to Knit a Bag on a Round Loom: 7 Easy Steps

Ready to learn how to knit a bag on a round loom? It’s a lot easier than you think. Here’s a 7-step round loom knitting pattern:

Bag’s Base

Cast On

Cast on all the pegs using the E-wrap knit stitch.

STEP 1

Row 1: E-wrap knit stitch all the pegs

Row 2: Purl all the pegs

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until you have 6 rows of garter stitches.

STEP 2

Knit all the rows until you have 10″ of knit fabric from the loom to the edge of your project.

STEP 3

Use the flat edge bind off to remove your bag from the loom. Leave a long tail for sewing.

STEP 4

Using the running stitch, close the bottom edge of your knit bag. Weave the yarn tails into your project.

Bag’s Strap

Making a bag strap is 100% possible in circular loom knitting. For this part of the loom knit bag pattern, we will be working back and forth over three pegs.

STEP 5

Row 1: Wrap yarns 1-3, from right to left. Row 2: Use peg 3 to turn and wrap around peg 2 to 1 — wrapping from left to right.

STEP 6

Row 3: Knit pegs 1 & 2. Now you have one loop on each peg.

STEP 7

Row 4: Wrap and knit pegs 2 & 3.

Repeat Rows 1 to 4 until your strap is 26″ long.

Use the cinch finish to take the strap off the loom. Sew the straps to either side of your bag.

Finished Bag

Your finished bag should look like this! Now you have someplace to store small knickknacks like your phone, pens, or your favorite Rhode lip gloss!
